IDA Board approves new projects for Bay Shore, Edgewood

At the February 14th Town of Islip IDA meeting, the Board unanimously approved final resolutions for American Tire Distributors and Trojan Powder Coating.  Both companies applied for financial assistance through the Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency and will receive benefits through various tax abatements.

“Our IDA Board is steadfast in our commitment to bringing jobs to Islip Town,” said Islip Town Supervisor Tom Croci.  “American Tire Distributors and Trojan Powder Coating are companies with a proven track record of success, and we look forward to helping them prosper here in Islip.”

Headquartered in North Carolina, American Tire Distributors is a warehouse distributor of tires.  With a total project cost of over $7 million, American Tire has constructed a 131,000 square foot facility in Edgewood, where Trojan will create 30 new jobs in Islip.

Located in Bay Shore, Trojan Powder Coating is a metal finishing company that provides powder coating on other manufacturer’s products.  With the help of the Islip IDA, Trojan will be acquiring the 76,000 square foot facility in which they currently operate, making various necessary improvements.  Currently, Trojan has 56 employees and expects to create an additional 25 jobs after 2 years.  Local tax incentives will help this $1.6 million project get off the ground.
